It’s been announced that Sir Michael Palin will guest-star in a future episode of The Simpsons.
The Monty Python legend will be the latest in a very, very long line of celebrities to have leant their voices to the iconic, long-running animated comedy.
Speaking at this year’s virtual San Diego Comic-Con, producer and writer Matt Selman announced that Sir Michael’s dulcet tones are on their way to Springfield.
‘Sir Michael Palin from Monty Python will be appearing on The Simpsons,’ he said.
‘Which is pretty exciting for me. I love them all, sorry everyone else, I think he’s my favourite.’
Showrunner Al Jean also admitted that in the past the show had tried to poach the vocal talents of another member of the Monty Python troupe, but had been unsuccessful.
Another British star set to soon appear in the show is Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman, who will be playing a femme fatale (very exciting).
During the virtual panel, the producers and writers of The Simpsons also named some of their favourite guest-stars.
They named Kelsey Grammer and actress Anne Hathaway as two particular favourites, as well as Jack Black and Marvel star Don Cheadle.
‘There’s too many to mention,’ Al Jean started. ‘But for me its Kelsey. Anne Hathaway, all great and incredibly talented.’
Writer Carolyn Omine added: ‘I loved Cate Blanchett, [she] was great.’
The Simpsons is available to stream now via Disney+.
